Abstract

1,203,650. Quinazolinones. SANDOZ Ltd. 16 Nov., 1967 [4 Oct., 1967], No. 52253/67. Addition to 1,195,066. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of Formula Ia in which R is H, F, Cl or Br; X is a C 3-5 branched alkyl radical, the branching occurring in the carbon atom attached to the ring nitrogen atom other than a tertiary such alkyl radical in which the tertiary C is directly attached to the N of the quinazolinone ring; R 2 is a phenyl radical optionally substituted by Y and Y 1 , Y being F, Cl, Br,-OH, C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxy or -CF 3 and Y 1 being H, F, Cl, Br, OH, C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxy; are prepared by reacting a compound of Formula IIa with a C 1-5 alkyl carbamate in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst at a temperature of at least 140‹ C.
