[Also in Division C7] Apparatus for mining solid material with a molten metal comprises a vessel 1 capable of being sealed by a cover 2 and a reciprocable agitator consisting of a rod 3 passing through the cover, and a disc. A container 5 is mounted on the inner side of the cover and receives the solid material which is retained within the container by the disc in its uppermost position. When the vessel is sealed and pressurised the rod 3 and disc are lowered to release the contents of the contaner into the molten metal in ladle 14 and to agitate the contents of the ladle.
