Abstract

1,201,597. Inverters. LANDIS & GYR A.G. 11 April, 1969 [22 April, 1968], No. 18667/69. Addition to 1,160,803. Heading H2F. In an arrangement as described in the parent Specification wherein controlled rectifiers e.g. thyristors (5, 6), Fig. 1, are fired alternately and a gate (11) is provided to prevent thyristor (6) from being fired until reverse current detected by a current transformer (13) flows through a diode (8), a second gate (62) operated through an inverter (64) is provided to prevent firing pulses from being fed from a generator (7) to thyristor (5) while current measured through a current transformer (63) is flowing through the thyristor (6). The gate 11 has a constant voltage arrangement 67-69 across its input and when diode 8 conducts a transistor 70 fires thus blocking another transistor 71 hence rendering a transistor 72 conductive allowing a capacitor 73 to charge through a variable resistor 74 which adjusts the response time. At a determined capacitor voltage a Zener diode 76 breaks down, gating a transistor 75 open to pass a pulse from a generator 7 to thyristor 6. The gate 62 is constructed in a similar manner except that the transistor 71 is omitted hence reversing the operation of this circuit.
