Abstract

1,200,031. Lobster pot. J. SALY. 16 April, 1969 [16 Jan., 1968], No. 2315/68. Heading A1A. A section 4 of the conical flange of the mouth of a lobster pot, hinged to the edge of the mouth and biased by a rubber band 5 towards a position where it closes the mouth, is held in the open position by a galvanized steel staple 6 which passes between two parallel members 7 of galvanized steel wire secured to the body of the lobster pot, the staple being locked in position by the insertion of a pin 8 of magnesium wire. Corrosion of the magnesium wire by electrolytic action releases the section 4 after a time dependent on the wire thickness, the separation of the parallel members 7 and the tension in the rubber band 5. Alternatively a galvanized steel pin 8 if used will keep the mouth open.
