Abstract

1,199,718. Cutters. BOKUM TOOL CO. Inc. 25 March, 1969 [13 May, 1968], No. 15494/69. Heading B3C. A rotary tool assembly having, e.g. for a spot-facer blade, comprises a holder having micrometer adjustment for positioning the tool relative to the holder. The body 10 of the holder is formed with a transverse recess 12 slidably receiving an adjusting spool 14 threaded to an adjusting screw 18 having a dial 20 graduated to associate with an index mark on the body. Secured to the spool 14 is a block 30 slidable in a slot 32 parallel with the recess 12 and to which block the shank 28 of the tool T is connectable, by engagement of a pin 40, extending through the shank, in one of a pair of recesses 36 in the block. The shank of the tool is received in a slot 27 in which it is guided by a key 44 which can be tightened against the shank by set-screws 54 to retain the tool in an adjusted position. The key 44 is retained in the body by set-screws 50. Provision of the pair of recesses 36 in the block 30 enables two different coarse positions of the tool T to be obtained, fine positioning then being made via the adjusting screw 18 and dial 20. The tool holder may be connected to a rotary drive shaft or extension thereof.
