Abstract

1,198,820. Building tyres. CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE A.G. 2 Oct., 1967 [6 Dec., 1966], No. 44814/67. Heading B7C. A multi-ply tyre carcass is built by assembling partially overlapping ply-sections 1-4 to form a composite strip and winding the strip on to a tyre building drum. Each ply-section has a length approximately equal to the circumference of the drum. The cords of adjacent plies may be arranged at opposite inclinations to each other. Before winding the strip on to the drum, two parallel fabric layers 6 may be assembled beneath the strip, the layers being wound on the drum for bead-strengthening purposes.
