Abstract
1,197,640. Detecting flaws electrically. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Feb. 10, 1969 [Nov. 15, 1967], No. 51984/67. Heading G1N In eddy current flaw detecting apparatus, the former 11, on which coils 14, 15 are wound, is made of a non-metallic resilient material and clips on to a metal tube or bar to be tested. The inner surface of former 11 may be coated with P. T. F.E. for easy movement along the tube or may be provided with a non-metallic ball-and-socket arrangement. The coils 14, 15 may be would on ferrite rods projecting from the former 11, Fig. 2 (not shown). Other shapes of former may be used e. g. for octagonal, rectangular and triangular shaped bars.
