Abstract

1,197,172. Filters. DAVIS INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT CO. Ltd. 1 Sept., 1967 [7 June, 1966], No. 25255/66. Headings BID and BIT. . A filter comprises a layer 8 of broken-celled foamed plastics or knitted wire and/or one or more layers of fire-resistant fabric 9, clamped between frames 1, 2 which present complementary undulating surfaces 4, 6 along two sides to shape the layers to corrugated form. A wire frame 12, 13 provides further support, while fabric 9 has tapes 10 which loop over the sides 3 of the frames when the filter is assembled. Fabric 9 and wire frame 12, 13 may be located on one or each side of layer 8. Alternatively layer 8 is inserted into an envelope of fabric. The fabric and layer 8 are both washable. The peaks of surfaces 4, 6 are grooved to receive wires 12. Frames 1, 2 may be wood, metal, plastics or ceramic or may be of broken-celled foamed plastics, with additional metal frames clamping them to the filter layer(s).
