Abstract
1,196,954. Protective devices. ERIE TECHNOLOGICAL PRODUCTS Inc. 23 June, 1967 [12 April, 1967], No. 58735/69. Heading H2H. [Also in Division H1] An overvoltage protective device is made by moulding a continuous lead wire 26 into a plastics body 25 having an opening 28 extending therethrough and severing the wire at a portion exposed in the opening to provide a spark gap 29 spaced from the walls of the opening. The body 25 is cylindrical, and the wire 26 has enlargements 27 for anchoring purposes. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown), the body is a rectangular prism and the wire is U-shaped, before being severed, so that the ends project from one face of the prism.
