1,196,167. Cycloaliphatic nitrates. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 1 Aug., 1967 [2 Aug., 1966], No. 35283/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C5] Norbornyl nitrate is prepared by reacting nitric acid with norbornene in methylene chloride. Alternatively no solvent is used and the nitric acid is added to norbornene heated to above its melting point. A mixture of 5,6- cyclopenteno 2- and 3-norbornyl nitrates is made by reacting nitric acid with dicyclopentadiene. 5,6-Cyclopentano-2-norbornyl nitratemay be obtained in an analogous way. Isobornyl nitrate is prepared by reacting nitric acid with camphene dissolved in methylene chloride. Pinene nitrate is prepared in a similar manner.
