Abstract

1,196,141. Animal containers. E. MARSHALL-PURVES. 25 March, 1968 [4 Jan., 1967], No. 514/67. Heading A1M. [Also in Division B8] A container 1, Fig. 1, e.g. of expanded polystyrene, for transporting and storing animals, comprises parts 9, 11, an entry aperture 15, a sanitary aperture 17 and a net 3, Fig. 4, e.g. of nylon or metal, with top handles (19), Fig. 2 (not shown), which is secured to the container by a stand 5, attached by studs, on a flange 23, in keyhold slots 21 on the container 1. An inverted stand 7 serves as a feed trough, being connected to trays (not shown) in feed apertures 25 by pipes 27. The net 3, which is folded down over the stand 5 when not in use, may be in two parts, Fig. 5 (not shown), each with an overlapping rigid ring to secure them together. Pipes 73, Fig. 8, deliver water 57 from a false ceiling 59 to an upper tray 71 which controls the flow to a bottom tray 75. Ventilation holes 73 are provided in an insert 65. The container 1 may be subdivided into connected, partially transparent compartments for living and observation purposes. The net 3 may be closed by a spiked ring or a draw cord. The container 1 may have a heating lamp, cooling fan, or an oxygen supply. The inverted stand 7 allows stacking.
