Abstract

1,195,540. Abrasive tools. MASCHINENFABRIK HEIDENAU VEB. 6 Oct., 1967, No. 45669/67. Heading B3D. [Also in Division B2] A grinding disc, e.g. for use in grinding apparatus wherein cocoa, pigments &c. are ground between the opposed faces of a pair of discs, comprises a disc 1 of abrasive material and a support member 2 surrounding the periphery of the disc. Centrifugal weights 3 are fast with pivot axles 4 mounted in the support member around the periphery of the disc; as the disc rotates the weights fly outwardly and the edges 9 of the pivot axles act inwardly on the disc periphery either directly or through a comparison ring 5. The construction allows rotation of the disc at higher peripheral velocities than those appropriate to the tensile strength of the abrasive material, and also compensates for the different thermal expansions of the disc and support.
