Moulding compositions comprise by weight 100 parts of polypropylene and 5 to 60 parts of a nitrate of a transition metal or a non- transition metal of Group II, III or IV of the Periodic System. Specified nitrates are zinc, cadmium, mercury (II), tin (II), lead (II), titanium (III), vanadium (III), chromium (III), manganese (II), manganese (IV), copper (I), copper (II), silver (I), gold (I), germanium (IV), aluminium, zirconium (IV), hafnium (IV), thorium (III), niobium (III), tantalum (III), molybdenum (V), tungsten (IV), uranium (III), chromium (II), iron (II), cobalt (II), osmium (V), magnesium, calcium, strontium and barium nitrates. The compositions may also contain conventional dyes, stabilizers and lubricants, and may be made into films, sheets and packings.
