1,194,619. Inks for writing boards. PILOT MAN-NEN-HITSU K.K. 24 Dec., 1968 [29 Dec., 1967], No. 61356/68. Heading C4A. An erasable ink for writing boards comprises a dye, a hygroscopic salt whose saturated aqueous solution at 20‹ C. produces a relative humidity less than 40% in the surrounding atmosphere, and water and/or an organic solvent. Specified salts are potassium acetate, thiocyanide, fluoride and iodide, lithium bromide, chloride and iodide, and sodium iodide. Specified organic solvents are ethanol, propanol and butanol, methyl ethyl and methyl i-butyl ketones. xylene, toluene, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, and diethylene glycol monomethyl ether. Optionally a minor amount of a natural or synthetic resin soluble in the solvent may be included, these being:-Example 5, polyvinyl alcohol; Example 6, shellac; Example 7, polyvinyl pyrrolidone; Example 8, polyvinyl acetate; Example 9, a phenolic resin.
