1,193,427. Germicides containing iodine and surface active agents. DIVERSEY DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. 14 July, 1967 [14 July, 1966], No.. 31643/66. Heading A5E. A composition finding application as a sanitizing agent for industrial use comprises iodine and an ampholytic surface active agent of fomula in which R is H or C 1 to C 8 alkyl group, R<SP>1</SP> is a C 1 to C 5 hydrocarbon chain (which may be unsaturated) or an aralkyl or cycloalkyl group containing such a hydrocarbon chain and n is from 1 to 5. Typical ampholytic surface active agents are N-coco alkyl derivatives of amino butyric acid and N-coco # amino propionic acid. Optional ingredients are anionic, cationic and non-ionic. surface active agents (solubilizers), isopropyl alcohol (solubilizer), water and phosphoric or citric acid (to adjust pH). The compositions may be used as udder-washes, antiseptics or general disinfectants.
