Abstract

1,192,521. Saddle tree bar. BEEBEE & BEEBEE Ltd. 2 April, 1969 [3 Jan., 1968], No. 413/68. Heading A1M. A saddle tree bar comprises a fixed horizontal portion for supporting a stirrup leather at the rear end of which is attached a safety bar 21 formed of a resilient plastics material and shaped so as to be held by engagement with the horizontal portion in a generally upright position. The main body 11 of the saddle tree bar is provided with holes 13, 14 to secure it on a saddle tree. The main body 11 made of steel supports a moulded plastics member 16 which fits over the steel member and is secured by three plastics rivets 17, 18 and 18a. At the free end of the horizontal portion 15 the plastics member 16 has two integral fork members 19 on which the safety bar 21 is pivotally mounted by a plastics pin 22. The safety bar 21 comprises a tongue 24 spaced from the main body of the safety bar by means of a slot 23. The slot 23 and tongue 24 are such as to provide a resilient pressure to maintain the safety bar in an upright position, the deflection of the tongue increasing progressively over a range of movement of the safety bar, until a position is reached where the tongue movement is such as to reduce the resilient pressure, thereby providing a snap action which releases the stirrup leather.
