Abstract
1,191,593. Video recording. LOEWA OPTA G.m.b.H. 15 May, 1968 [20 May, 1967], No. 23091/68. Addition to 1,135,515. Heading G5R. In an arrangement for recording and reproducing colour television signals on or from a magnetic tape, the luminance signal frequency modulates a first carrier and the colour difference signals, alternately at line frequency, modulate a second carrier having a frequency such that the highest frequency in its modulated frequency band is below that of the lowest frequency in the modulated frequency band of the first carrier and the modulated signals are combined and applied to a single head recording oblique tracks on the tape. The Y (luminance) signal is applied at input 1 and frequency modulates a carrier F2 in modulator 2. The resultant signal is amplified 3 and applied to recording head 4. The R-Y and B-Y (difference) signals are applied via an electronic switch 9 operating at line frequency to frequency modulate a carrier F1 in modulator 11 and the resultant signal is amplified and also applied to the head 4. On play back the signal is reproduced in head 5, amplified 15 and separated by the HP and LP filters 16, 21. The signals are then demodulated 17, 22 amplified 18, 23 and the Y signal is applied directly to the output terminal 19. The output of the difference signal amplifier 13 is applied to a switch 28 operating at line frequency either directly via line 29 or via a delay element 24, introducing a delay equal to a line period, and an amplifier 25. The arrangement acts such that if e.g. terminal 34 receives the current B-Y signal, terminal 33 is energized by the R-Y signal of the previous line and vice versa.
