119,050. Webster, W. W., Edser, E., and Wood, L. A. June 14, 1917. Treating ores to facilitate concentration.-In the concentration of tin and wolfram ores, the finely-divided ore, which may be first classified, is subjected to the action of sodium or potassium hydrate, silicate, carbonate, or phosphate, ammonia, borax, or silicic acid sol, preferably by being agitated in water with a small proportion of one or more of the reagents, and then submitted to mechanical separation, such as on tables or vanners, by panning, or in upward-current classifiers. Lime and soda-ash may be used in place of caustic soda.
