1,189,783. Excavators. POCLAIN. 28 Nov., 1968 [7 Dec., 1967], No. 56454/68. Heading E1F. Counterbalancing of earth working means 5 on a turret 3 carried by a chassis 1 is effected by a weight 7 that is rotatable, according to the operating conditions of the means 5, about an axis 10 that is parallel to the axis of rotation x-x of the turret and is lockable against rotation relative to either the turret or the chassis when occupying a position about said axis 10 to effectively counterbalance the means 5. Preferably the weight is sickle or C- shaped when seen from above, is pivotally mounted on the turret, and is lockable to the turret in various positions about the axis 10 by pins 8.
