Abstract
1,189,736. Fabric tubes. OSKAR DILO K.G. 17 June, 1968 [4 July, 1967; 9 Oct., 1967; 17 April, 1968], No. 28723/68. Heading F2P. Piping is made from non-woven fabric by winding in overlapping helices on to a drum 2, the layers being secured together by forcing fibres through between the layers by means of needles 4. The dum is provided with circumferential grooves into which the needles reciprocate radially. A fibrous web 6 is fed by conveyer so that it winds in a continuous loop over the drum 2 and a roller 3. The drum tapers from left to right so that the wound tubing 7 may be drawn off axially in flat form by rollers 23 and coiled on to a stone roll 25. In passing from the drum the piping passes through a hole in the frame 1 and, in order to accommodate the rotation of the tubing, the entire take-up mechanism also rotates, driven by motor 29 and gear 26, through which the piping passes at a slot (30, Fig. 5, not shown). In a modification, Fig. 6, the tubing is not flattened but is gripped by pneumatically actuated jaws 41 and drawn off the drum by a reciprocating take-up device riding on rails 31 axially of the drum between limit switches 50, 54. Lengths of piping are cut off by a rotating blade (46, Fig. 8, not shown). The additional roller 3 may be dispensed with. The fabric used may be of synthetic fibres, metal, glass, asbestos or wool. The fabric may include thermoplastic fillers and the tube be subjected to thermal after-treatment. Alternatively, the fabric may contain elastomeric adhesives or other glues or bonding agents. The piping may be used for facing rollers or for filters.
