Abstract
1,189,137. Gas purification apparatus. ELEKTROMAT, VEB. 19 Aug., 1967, No. 38306/ 67. Heading B1L. Apparatus for cleaning and/or drying gases, especially argon, oxygen or nitrogen on the laboratory scale comprises a number of detachable towers 1 (see Fig. 1) containing suitable contact or adsorption material connected to each other in transportable units 5, which units may be connected to each other in parallel as shown, or alternatively in series (see Fig. 2 not shown). The units are adapted to be slidably engaged in a cabinet frame (8) (see Fig. 4, not shown), which also carries electrical heating control apparatus (6) and means (7). Such latter means (7) is adapted to be inserted into the axial cavity of cylindrical tower 1 (see Fig. 3) when the units are in position for use within cabinet (8). Supply and discharge means (14) are provided for scavenging gas within cabinet (8), and the cabinet is preferably heat-insulated. Such unitary construction enables unused or regenerated units to be stored for use as required.
