Abstract

1,189,011. Dispensing beverages. RUDDMELIKIAN Inc. 7 April, 1967, No. 16139/67. Headings A4D and A4T. [Also in Division B8] Brewing apparatus for making a beverage, e.g. from coffee grounds or powder, includes a rotary device F having recesses 66 each shaped to fit the contour of a pod P of beverage ingredient contained in a tape T of water-permeable material (see Division B8). As each pod is indexed into the top position shown, a piston 65 apertured at 67 descends, sealing surfaces round the aperture engaging against a resilient ring (68), Fig. 19 (not shown). A piston 72 forces hot water through the pod so that the beverage flows through a port 70, leading from the recess 66, and out through a side channel to a spout (73) below which a cup may be placed.
