Abstract

1,187,072. Anilino-pyridine derivatives. LABOBATOIRES TORAUDE. 11 April, 1968, No. 40939/69. Divided out of 1,187,071. Heading C2C. Novel compounds I in which R is H, halo, C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 acyl, -CF 3 , -NO 2 , primary, secondary or tertiary amino, -CN, carboxamido, -COOH, or carbalkoxy; m is 1, 2 or 3; R 1 is C 1-4 alkyl; and R 2 is C 1-4 alkyl, heterocyclyl-methyl or R 1 and R 2 together with the adjacent nitrogen atom form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring which may contain an additional hetero-atom and their acid addition salts are prepared by condensing the appropriate 4-anilino-pyridine II with acrylonitrile to obtain a compound III hydrolysing III to give the corresponding carboxylic acid IV and finally condensing the acid with an amine HNR 1 R 2 , followed where desired by acid addition salt formation. Intermediates isolated are the compounds III and IV above. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a novel compound I together with a suitable excipient for oral or parenteral administration as excitants and anti-depressants.
