1,186,548. Formamidine derivatives. EGYESULT GYOGYSZER-ES TAPSZERGYAR. 12 June, 1967 [11 June, 1966], No. 27089/67. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each H, alkyl, alkoxy, NO 2 , or halogen, R<SP>3</SP> is H and R<SP>4</SP> is a carbocyclic aryl group optionally having one or more C 1-4 alkoxy, NO 2 , CF 3 or halogen substituents, C 4-7 cycloalkyl, an unsubstituted bicyclic aryl group, OH, or C 1-4 mono- or di-alkylaminoalkyl group, or R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> together with the nitrogen atom form a heterocyclic group containing 5 to 7 ring members including optionally an oxygen or nitrogen atom as a further hetro atom and optionally substituted by a C 1-4 alkyl group, and n is 0, 2 or 3 and acid addition and quaternary salts thereof, are prepared by reacting a compound of formula with a compound of formula H-N(R<SP>3</SP>).R<SP>4</SP>, where X is C 1-4 alkyl, optionally followed by salt formation. Pharmaceutical compositions in conventional forms and having anthelmintic, bactericidal and antifungal activity comprise an above novel compound or salt and a carrier therefor.
