[Also in Division G5l A decorative laminate is produced by applying to a releasable support a first layer of a polyester resin, causing the resin to gel, applying a second layer of polyester resin, transferring decorative matter from a carrier to the second layer, causing the second layer to gel sufficiently to retain the decorative matter and applying at least one further layer containing a polyester resin to the second layer. Examples of decorative laminates are name-plates, marking panels, indicators in instrument panels, traffic indicators, house number-plates, vehicle registration-plates and panels containing indications for traffic e.,g. road signs, speed limit signs, direction indicators the latter being preferably reflecting. The decorative matter may be of an artistic or literary character and may be in the form of inscriptions, drawings, written matter, patterns, images in a single colour or in a plurality of colours. The article may be finished by applying one or several polyester resin layers alternating with glass, fibre reinforcing layers. A suitable support is a glass, polypropylene or polyester plate. Suitable polyester resins are those provided with a U.V. stabilizer, an acrylate resin and a flexible resin to increase the clearness and the impact strength. The decorative matter may be a printing ink and the carrier may be a polyethylene film or a polypropylene film. The laminate can be sawn into smaller pieces and ground, and holes bored for attachment.
