A rotary hydraulic motor comprises coaxial inner and outer members journalled for relative rotation with the inner member formed around its periphery with a plurality of alternate lobes and depressions defining with the outer member a plurality of chambers and the outer member having a plurality radial axially-extending channels slidably receiving vanes which move between a first fully retracted position to a second fully extended position, a tubular member secured to the inner member, a hollow sleeve longitudinally slidable in the tubular member, first and second passageways isolated from each other formed within the sleeve and between the sleeve and tubular member respectively, one of said passageways forming an inlet conduit and the other an exhaust conduit, and the inner member also having a plurality of longitudinally spaced sets of inlet passageways and a set of outlet passageways so that on longitudinal sliding movement of the sleeve one or more of the sets of inlet passageways may be selectively isolated from the inlet conduit and it or they connected to the exhaust conduit.
