Abstract

1,184,927. Camera tripods. A. HAYAMA. April 19, 1967, No.18059/67. Heading G2J. A tripod for a photographic camera comprises a casing 3 having a rotatable shaft 2 therein and at least three forming rings 5 in a wall thereof, the axes of the rings extending in different directions. A plurality of flat belt like strips 1, one per ring, of a flexible resilient material, e.g. heat treated phosphor bronze, are provided each having one end attached to the shaft and the other through a respective ring which thereby rolls the flat strip into a tabular leg 1<SP>1</SP>, a non slip shoe 6 being provided on each leg. The shaft is spring urged to take up the position shown, a handle (7, Fig. 4, not shown) having notches (7a) which can engage a stop (9) to act as latches being provided for unwinding the legs. A stand 8 to support a camera is provided.
