Abstract
1,184,484. Electro-chemical analysis. WALLACE & TIERNAN Inc. March 31, 1967 [March 4, 1966], No.14994/67. Heading G1N. [Also in Division G3] A cathodic protection system includes two reference electrodes 22, 23 of which the latter is generally similar to that described in Specification 1,184, 798 and the former comprises two copper electrodes 58<SP>1</SP>, 68 positioned in the base of a non-conductive vessel 60<SP>1</SP> which contains a copper sulphate solution 61<SP>1</SP> maintained saturated by an escess of copper sulphate crystal 63<SP>1</SP>. A semi-permeable conductive membrane 65<SP>1</SP> closes the end of vessel 60<SP>1</SP> and a non-conductive baffle 80 prevents polarization by directing the current between electrodes 58<SP>1</SP>, 68 to ensure proper superimposition of the effect of the current from a circuit 73 on the current flowing through membrane 65<SP>1</SP> and a resistance, Fig.2 (not shown). Choice and adjustment of the various circuit components determines the amount of current through membrane 65<SP>1</SP> shunted by circuit 73.
