Abstract
1,184,318. 1,3,4 - Thiadiazoline - 5 - one - 2 - carbamoyl chlorides; thiosemicarbazides. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 12 Nov., 1968 [6 Dec., 1967], No. 53591/68. Heading C2C. The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein R is (i) an alkyl or alkenyl radical with up to 8 carbon atoms, which may be substituted by alkoxy, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl or phenyl (which phenyl may itself be substituted by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy and/or haloalkyl), (ii) a cycloalkyl radical with up to 10 carbon atoms, or (iii) an aryl radical which may be substituted by alkyl, halogen, haloalkyl, nitro and/or alkoxy, and R<SP>1</SP> is (i) an alkyl or alkenyl radical with up to 12 carbon atoms which may be substituted by alkoxy, aryl, alkylaryl, haloaryl or cycloalkyl, or (ii) a cycloalkyl radical with up to 10 carbon atoms. The compounds are prepared by reacting a compound of the general formula with phosgene in an inert organic solvent or diluent using at least 2 moles of phosgene per mole of thiosemicarbazide. The thiosemicarbazide starting materials may be prepared by (i) reaction of a monosubstituted hydrazine R-NH-NH 2 with an isothiocyanate R<SP>1</SP>-NCS, (ii) reaction of a monosubstituted hydrazine R-NH-NH 2 with CS 2 and an alkylating agent to give a compound where R<SP>2</SP> is alkyl, which is then reacted with a primary amine R<SP>1</SP>-NH 2 in an organic solvent at 0-120 C., or (iii) reduction of an appropriate thiosemicarbazone.
