Abstract

1,183,846. Mats. ELECTROMAGNETS Ltd. 20 March, 1968 [4 April, 1967], No. 15255/67. Heading A4S. [Also in Division H1] A mat for removal of iron filings from footwear comprises a scraper grid 14 supported by integral side members 15 and feet 16 to overlie a permanent bar magnet 11 in a well 12 in a floor 13. The filings are collected in the perforations of the grid which is formed of non-magnetic material, e.g. plastics, hard rubber or aluminium, or of a material which becomes magnetized in the presence of a magnetic field. A tray 17 of non-magnetic material is supported beneath the grid by flanges 18 which rest on feet 16. The grid and the tray are removed from the vicinity of the magnet for removal of the iron filings by brushing.
