Abstract

1,182,423. Unsaturated polyester compositions. TERCOL Ltd. 25 May, 1967 [16 June, 1966; 21 July, 1966], Nos. 26924/66 and 32721/66. Headings C3P and C3R. A polymeric binder flooring composition comprises an unsaturated polyester resin modified to increase its flexibility and at least one compatible polyisocyanate in an amount of 10 to 40% by weight based on the weight of the polyester resin, the composition being curable at ambient temperature to an unfoamed mass. In the example the compositions comprise: polyester resins prepared from fumaric acid, phthalic anhydride, dihydroxy compounds, flexibilizing component, an isophthalic acid, an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and styrene; trimethylol propane tris-(di-isocyanate toluene) prepolymer, diphenylmethane diisocyanate and an aliphatic triisocyanate containing biuret groups prepared by polymerizing hexamethylene diisocyanate; cobalt naphthenate, methyl ethyl ketone peroxide and paraffin wax in styrene.
