Abstract

1,182,107. Layering fabrics. H. J. BASCOMBE. 16 Sept., 1968 [21 June, 1967], No. 28601/67. Heading D1S. Lengths of textile fabrics are laid-up for subsequent bulk cutting by first identifying selected points in a length of fabric to which successive layers of fabric are to be matched. These points are fixed in relation to a laying up table 10, the surface 11 of which is formed with a plurality of geometrically arranged pinhole apertures 13, by pins 21 inserted through the corresponding holes 13 from the reverse side. The pins 21 are mounted on a carrier 14 which renders them movable in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the table 10. Initially the pins 21 extend above the surface 11 by an amount sufficient to a selected number of layers of fabric. When these layers have been applied the pins 21 are moved upwards by means of 14, a further distance to impale more layers of fabric. The process is continued until the required total number of layers have been laid-up.
