Abstract

1,181,938. Statistical apparatus. KIENZLE APPARATE G.m.b.H. 17 April, 1968 [22 April, 1967], No. 18092/68. Heading G4M. An account sheet is transported to position the next vacant line in printer 104, 105 under the control of a counter which is preset to the complement of the line number and is counted up by pulses from a photo-cell LS3 detecting line-denoting marks on the sheet. The next vacant line number is recorded, together with other data on a magnetic strip on the sheet sensed by read head MK. The line number is up-dated as the sheet is ejected after printing or after keyboard initiated line-shift by one or more lines in the forward direction. When a sheet is placed on table 57, card levers and an associated photo-cell cause energization of solenoid KK to engage pressure rollers 50, 51 and start the drive so that the sheet enters the machine. Deflector 85a normally allows sheets to pass unhindered, but when in the operative position, directs sheets being ejected into receptacle 86, and prevents any other sheets from entering. Photocell LS2 detects the presence of a sheet to enable read head MK. Deflector 106 can be operated to direct sheets emerging from the reading station into receptacle 107 while at the same time preventing ejection of a sheet from the printing station. Drive to the feed rollers is through forward and reverse clutches, an electromagnetic brake being applied when neither clutch is energized. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification, 818,078.
