Abstract
1,181,158. Aircraft or spacecraft surface material. DORNIER SYSTEM G.m.b.H. 25 Sept., 1967 [1 Dec., 1966], No. 43416/67. Heading B7W. An aircraft or spacecraft has a surface which exhibits reduced energy absorption on impact by gas molecules and therefore is not subject to so great a frictional heating. The surface may be of sapphire (corundum), tungsten, iridium or niobium, which may be electroplated on to an inexpensive carrier. The surface may be covered by a coating of a noble metal to reduce chemical or physical adsorption of a gas at the skin surface.
