Abstract

1,180,995. Cleaning, &c. G. N. GEE and C. R. GEE. 6 Sept., 1968 [30 Aug., 1967], No. 39564/67. Headings A4F and A4K. [Also in Divisions B5, B7 and C4] In a method of inserting a substance in a resilient porous pad the pad is compressed between dies each having a configuration shown in Fig. 1 leaving partially uncompressed areas 5, 6 into which a substance is subsequentially injected by a nozzle 8, Fig. 5. The dies may have a number of interconnected depressions 5, Fig. 4, (not shown). Substances which may be injected may be soap, emery powder, graphite, boot polish, water softeners, moisture inhibitors, stain removers, soapless detergents and fire retardent materials. Two or more substances may be inserted in separate or the same stage. The porous material may be polyurethane foam or other suitable expanded or foamed plastics or natural sponge. A suitable substance may be inserted into a porous material to form furniture, lifeboats floating mats or noise inhibitors for automobiles and aircraft.
