Abstract

118,057. Shoemaker, C. B. Feb. 5, 1918. Goggles.-A nose-piece carries collapsible vizors 4 on either side which, in the form shown, are mounted on eye-glasses. The nose-piece carries two casings 3, the curvature of which corresponds to the upper edge of the lenses and in which the vizor is housed when folded. The vizor 4 is in the form of a spherical segment formed of flexible material and braced by means of arcuate ribs 5 mounted on screws 6, 11 which act as pintles. A spring 7 on the screw 6 between the casing 3 and the outermost rib exerts a pressure so as to hold the vizor in position when closed. When not intended to be combined with eye-glasses, the tiange 10 which fits around the lens is omitted and the nose-piece itself acts as the pintle 11.
