Abstract
1,180,279. Machinery safety devices. PRICE MACHINE GUARDS Ltd. 7 Feb., 1968 [10 March, 1967], No. 11472/67. Heading F2J. A guard for a machine comprises a pair of members 12 mounted for movement between an upright and a horizontal position, the members being disposed on opposite sides of the area to be guarded and one of the members being provided with a series of spaced light beam sources 18 and the other member being provided with photoelectric cells aligned with the light beam source 18. Each member 12 is pivotally mounted on plates 11 secured to a pillar 10 and is located in position by a detent, such as a bolt, passing through aligned holes in the member 12 and plate 11. A telescopic strut 14 acts as a steady. Grid-type guards are provided at the sides of the protected area. Interruption of any of the light beams will automatically stop the machine or prevent it being operated.
