A fire-resistant board material comprises fibre-board, chip-board or plywood which is not impregnated with fire-resisting substances wherein one or each surface of the fibre-board, chip-board or plywood is covered with a porous board impregnated with fire-resistant substances, said porous board being substantially thinner than the fibre-board, chip-board or plywood. The boards may be bonded by the application of adhesive and pressure.
