Abstract

1,178,403. Protecting plants. WOLVERHAMPTON DIE CASTING Ltd. 24 April, 1967 [31 May, 1966], No. 24066/66. Heading A1E. A device for protecting plants from birds comprises a pair of supports which can be driven into the ground and a flexible line extending between and secured to the supports, means being contained in or carried by at least one support such that the line is extended when the supports are moved apart, and is taken up when the supports are moved together. As described, each support comprises a tuber 11 closed at the bottom by a spike 13 and at its top by a cap 16 to which is secured the end of a nylon line which is threaded through an eye 19 on a weight 20. The weight 20 is a close sliding fit in the tube. One of the supports carries a pair of spring clips whereby the two supports can be held together for storage or transport purposes.
