Limbs, artificial.-Means by which a walking- stick or crutch may be used with an artificial arm comprises a detachable fitting carrying a pivotally mounted member attached to the arm, and means interposed between the fitting and the member to tilt the stick forward after the weight is removed. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a socket b carrying a pivoted lever g is secured to the stick a by a setscrew. One end of the lever is secured to the arm i by a screw and fly-nut or other device, while the other end engages a spring surrounding a rod m pivoted to the fitting. A nut o serves to adjust the tension of the spring. In a modification, the spring is located in a recess in the fitting and engages the underside of the lever. In another modification, shown in Fig. 7, the part secured to the arm is bifurcated and pivots about a pin s passing through the fitting. A spring plunger n engages a cam surface on the top of the fitting. suitable stops t x limiting its movement.
