Abstract

1,176,558. Try squares. QUENOT & CIE S.a.r.l. Sept.6, 1967 [Dec.6, 1966], No.40686/67. Heading G1X. A try square comprises a blade 11 and a stack 12 formed from a drawn metal section e.g. I-section, the two being secured together by two elements, as 13, only one shown, one on either side of the stack 12 and fixed thereto by screws or pins 16 and fixed to the blade 11 by pegs or rivets 21. The elements 13 are of synthetic material or moulded metal. In alternative constructions the blade 11 may be secured directly in a longitudinal slot cut in the web, of the I-section stack 12 and the end 19 of the stack may be cut at an angle of either 90 degrees or 45 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the stack. A hollow rectangular section may be used in place of the I-section stack with the elements 13 secured inside the section either by screws or pins or as a force fit. Otherwise the blade 11 may be secured between two square U-section members secured back-to-back. The stack may incorporate a bubble level and/or measuring tape and the blade 11 may be graduated if desired.
