Abstract
1,173,947. Tape cassette apparatus. STAAR S.A. 21 June, 1967 [24 June, 1966], No. 28734/67. Heading G5R. A cassette is shifted against a first spring to an operative position, in which tape drive elements extend perpendicularly into the cassette, and may be latched in an intermediate position for fast winding, a second stronger spring biasing the latch towards the operative position. A machine generally similar to that in Specification 1,080,082 has a plate 2, carrying spindles 23, 94 and capstan 12<SP>1</SP>, coupled to the frame 1 by parallelogram links 27/30 so as to move upwards and inwards against a spring (108, Fig. 1, not shown) when tubular elements 78 on the plate are engaged by the leading edge of an inserted cassette 71. Alternatively, the plate slides parallel to the frame in arcuate guide slots (Figs. 4-6, not shown). The assembly is retained in the operative position by engagement of a lug 40 on the plate with a latch 39<SP>1</SP> on a lever 32<SP>1</SP> pivoted at 37<SP>1</SP> to a lever 132 itself pivoted at 133 and biased by the second spring 139. Depression of a button 136 moves lever 132 from stop 141 to stop 142 thereby allowing the plate and cassette to move to the intermediate position under force of the first spring (108). Depression of STOP button 150, or operation of an electromagnet 155 at the end of play, pivots latch 39<SP>1</SP> away from lug 40 allowing ejection by spring (108). In a modification, depression of either one of two control slides (182, 183, Figs. 7-8, not shown) cams a link (173) to the right or left so as to operate the lever 132 via a V-notch and roller and to carry a rod (186) controlling fast wind in opposite directions (not detailed).
