Abstract

1,173,477. Levels. RABONE CHESTERMAN Ltd. Oct. 15, 1968 [Oct. 16, 1967], No.47048/67. Heading G1F. A line spirit level comprises an unencased body 10 formed of square-section transparent acrylic plastics material having a longitudinal bore 11 closed at each end and partially filled with spirit and a pair of hooks 20 are formed at each end of the body 10 on end plates 17 cemented thereto to enable the level to be suspended on a line. The bore is preferably barrel-shaped and formed with graticule lines 16. The end plates 17 may also be of acrylic plastics material with aligned parallel edges 22 and V-notches 21 to enable the level to be used on flat surfaces or on pipes, and the plates 17 may be spigoted into the body 10. In an alternative embodiment the body 10 is of round section and the end plates with the hooks are made of diecast aluminium alloy.
