Abstract
1,173,130. Synthetic resin pipes. S. KANAO. 15 Nov., 1966 [15 Nov., 1965; 8 Jan., 1966 (2)], No. 38562/69. Divided out of 1,171,174. Heading F2P. An apparatus for the continuous manufacture of a synthetic resin pipe comprises a plurality of inner rollers 150 each supported for rotation about its respective axis 152 from a stationary supporting means 154, 155 the rollers being disposed in such a way that they define a substantially cylindrical circumscribing surface and are arranged in a plurality of sets arranged, one after the other, in the direction of the axis of said substantially cylindrical circumscribing surface with the rollers 150 being spaced at uniform peripheral intervals in said circumscribing surface and the axis 152 of each roller being slightly oblique relative to the axis of said circumscribing surface in the peripheral direction thereof with uniform deviation for each of the rollers, driving means for uniformly rotating each of the rollers about its respective axis, at least one extruder 170 for extruding a continuous strip 170 of synthetic resin material on to said rollers whereby the said rotation of the rollers advances the strip over all of the rollers circumferentially around and at the same time axially of said substantially cylindrical circumscribing surface, and means for causing the lateral edges of adjacent turns of the advancing strip to weld together to form the product pipe. As shown, a tubular frame 174 fixed to a boss 1591 on the supporting frame 155 has openings 175 to recline the axially-spaced sets of rollers 150 which are rotatably mounted at their ends in the frame, retained therein by annular members 156, 156, and are individually rotated by gears 166 on the rollers 150 which mesh with driving gears 168 carried by sleeves 167 on a power shaft 162 which also drives, in the opposite sense to the rollers 150, a pressure roller 158 for welding together the edges of the strip 170 of synthetic resin. The roller 158 is spring urged towards the rollers 150. In a modification, Fig. 5, not shown, a first extruded strip is wound upon a composite former of the previous embodiment. First and second sets of reinforcement threads are wound on to the first tube layer from inner and outer bobbin carrying- creels respectively, the outer creel being rotatably mounted on the inner creel. The inner creels are driven in opposite senses, at different rotational speeds, relative to that of the first tube layer so that the two sets of reinforcements are wound on opposite hands. A further extruded tube layer is formed by helically winding and welding a further extruded strip over the reinforcement threads.
