Abstract

1,172,121. X-ray cassette-radiation shield. ILFORD Ltd. 12 Jan., 1968 [5 Jan., 1967], No. 686/67. Heading H5R. [Also in Division G6] In an X-ray film holder, a portion of the film it contains is shielded from X-radiation by a " blocker " which comprises a sheet of metal of a thickness sufficient to prevent the radiation incident upon it during a radiographic exposure from fogging the film behind, said metal sheet being totally enclosed in a covering of plastics material, this covering having on one external face thereof a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive, by means of which the blocker is attached to the X-ray film holder. Preferably, the metal sheet is lead and is 0À02 inch thick, the plastics material being heat sealable and preferably poly-vinyl chloride. The preferred adhesive is rubber latex.
