Explosive-forming apparatus for forming a blank 4 on a die 3 comprises spray means 7 extending around the die for spraying a liquid to form a dome-shaped curtain 9 over the die, and means 5 for supporting a charge 6 within the curtain so that the liquid transmits the explosion energy to the blank. At least one header 7 for spraying jets 8 of water surrounds the die, and if the apparatus is in a closed building, at least one further header 11 is used to form a liquid curtain 12 for suppressing spray.
