[Also in Division G1] An arrangement for determining whether an applied voltage in the form of short, widely spaced pulses lies within determined limits incorporates three monostable multivibrators connected so as to respond to different levels of the input voltage. The outputs from those which respond are added together to provide an output signal which can take one of four values, the lower two indicating that the input is low, the third that it is within range and the fourth that it is high. The multivibrators 1, 2, 3 are connected to different tappings on a potential divider to which the input is applied, so that different values of inputs are required to reach the switching thresholds of the separate multivibrators. Alternatively an arrangement of multivibrators with different switching thresholds may be used. The sum of the multivibrator outputs is smoothed at 56 and compared in an amplifier 21 with a D.C. level at 22, set to correspond to the operation of two multivibrators. If the amplifier produces a fault voltage output a relay 26 operates to light a fault lamp, which enables a further circuit indicating whether the fault is high or low to be energized. Feedback may be applied to the multivibrator circuits, or the output of one used to gate a pulse stretcher following the adder circuit (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown). In these arrangements the output pulse width is varied in accordance with the input repetition frequency, so that the sum output signal is independent of frequency.
