Abstract

1,168,780. Winding webs. P. GRANTHAM. 4 Nov., 1966 [30 Nov., 1965], No. 49591/66. Heading B8R. [Also in Division D1] Articles, such as roller towels, laundered in a continuous process (see Divisions D1-D2) are wound on to a core which is free to weave to and fro to follow the snaking of the article as it is delivered. The core 206 is supported on a shaft 208 and is confined between side plates 222 biased by spring 224. The plates are able to slide on rod 218. The core is driven by a wheel pressed on to the article and driven by a belt, and is carried by an arm 216 also slidable on rod 218.
