Abstract

Pressure-relieving devices for fluids.- A pressurerelieving device particularly adapted for use with refrigerating plant is enclosed in an airtight chamber provided with means for withdrawing any leakage that may pass the valve. The chamber B enclosing the safety-valve A is provided with a pipe C<2> leading to atmosphere but normally closed by a frangible disk C adapted to be ruptured by excessive pressure in the chamber. An outlet pipe b<2> is also connected to the chamber and fitted with an auxiliary ejector pump or compressor E adapted to withdraw fluid from the chamber and discharge is to the suction side of the main compressor or other desired place. The auxiliary compressor may be started by an attendant, or a pressure-actuated mercury switch may be employed to start an electric motor operating the compressor and also to sound an alarm.
