Abstract

1,168,214. Sorting apparatus. H. U. KUNZ. 3 April, 1968 [5 April, 1967], No. 15926/68. Heading B2H. [Also in Divisions A1 and B8] A potato harvester is characterised in that a rotatable drum 7 is divided into two sections by an annular partition wall 8. A plurality of compartments 11 convey the potato load to first conveyer 13 whose roller spacing determines the size of potato that is retained on it to be transported to a sacking position 18. Alternatively a sieve may be used. Potatoes smaller than this size fall via a shoot 19 into section 10 of the drum 7 and are conveyed to a second conveyor 14. Three or more annular sections in the drum may be used to pre-sort the potatoes more finely, each section being provided with a conveyer.
